Description

The Bee Conservancy is offering grants to a select number of community gardens to plant and maintain a 31" x 28" upcycled ABERFELDY whisky barrel planter, which will be hosted at a local bar or restaurant as early as the last week of August 2021 through October 31, 2021. The barrel garden planter will then be transferred to the community garden in November for the community to keep and enjoy for years to come. These converted barrels will house custom-planted, bee-friendly gardens to grow seasonal herbs and flowers to support the foraging of local honey and native bees.

Community garden recipients of the The Barrels & Bees Award will be responsible for the care and maintenance of the barrel garden planter while it is in residence at the local partner restaurant or bar before receiving the barrel as a permanent gift for their garden. To support any travel and time for weekly watering and weeding, community garden recipients will receive a grant of $150 to cover travel costs to and from the host location and The Bee Conservancy will also provide $200 worth of soil mix, plants, and garden care items.

Apply for a chance to receive a Bee Conservancy and ABERFELDY Barrel Garden Planter.

Note: DEADLINE EXTENDED! Applications will be awarded on a rolling basis until the close of this opportunity on August 27, 2021.
